From Friday, October 30, 2026, ChatGPT Ads turns on creative enhancements automatically for new and existing self-serve campaigns. The feature can change the headline, description, language, image size, and destination URL of your ads without your approval of each version, according to the OpenAI help page on creative enhancements.

This change also applies to advertisers in Indonesia. OpenAI opened ChatGPT Ads in Indonesia on September 23, 2026, according to the OpenAI announcement of the Southeast Asia expansion. If you do not change the setting, your ads can show text that you did not write.

Creative enhancements is a ChatGPT Ads feature that makes ad variations from 3 inputs: the conversation context or user interests, your ad, and the content of your landing pageLanding pageThe page an ad points to. It carries 1 offer and 1 action, with no menu pulling the visitor elsewhere. What is a landing page?. The system can prepare variations in advance or make them during the conversation.

What changes on October 30, 2026?

OpenAI makes creative enhancements the default setting for all self-serve campaigns, including campaigns that already run. The OpenAI help page names 4 ad elements that can change.

Ad elementWhat can changeRisk for the advertiser
Headline and descriptionOpenAI writes new text or changes text to match the conversationThe ad shows sentences that your team did not review
LanguageOpenAI translates the ad text into another languageBrand terms, prices, or service promises can change meaning
ImageOpenAI resizes the image to fit the ad formatText or a logo near the image edge can be cut off
Destination URLOpenAI sends the click to a different relevant page on your siteLanding page reports and tracking parameters need a new check

OpenAI gives 1 example. The original headline "Fresh groceries delivered" becomes "Groceries for quick weeknight dinners" in a conversation about quick dinners. The offer is the same, but the sentence is new.

Who does this change affect?

This change affects all self-serve ChatGPT Ads accounts, except accounts or campaigns that opted out before. OpenAI keeps old opt-outs, and the campaign setting has priority over the account default.

The risk is highest for these 4 groups:

  • Businesses with prices, promotions, or stock that change often. The AI reads the landing page, so old data on the page can go into the ad.
  • Businesses in regulated categories, for example finance, health, or legal services.
  • Teams that run A/B tests on ad copy. Automatic variations change the text that you test.
  • Teams that read conversionsConversionThe action you count as a result, for example a paid order, a sign-up, or a chat that becomes a qualified buyer.Open the glossary by landing page. The destination URL can move to a different page.

What is the impact on cost, measurement, and team work?

The largest impact is on measurement, because Ads Manager does not show which ad version ran.

Cost

OpenAI does not change prices or the bidding method. OpenAI also did not publish performance data from creative enhancement tests, according to a PPC Land report of October 21, 2026. Thus, a claim of higher CTRCTRClicks divided by impressions, as a percentage. CTR shows how often people press the ad or the search result they saw.Open the glossary or more conversions has no public number yet.

Measurement

Ads Manager shows impressionsImpressionThe number of times your ad or page appeared on a screen. An impression is not a person and not a search.Open the glossary, clicks, spend, CTR, and conversions at the campaign, ad group, and ad level. Ads Manager does not show a preview of each variation. The OpenAI help page says that metric changes over time do not prove the effect of creative enhancements.

The help page does not say if UTMUTMA label you attach to a page address to mark the source of a visit, for example the campaign and the channel.Open the glossary parameters stay when the destination URL changes. Thus, click your own ad and compare the final URL with your tracking template.

Team work

The landing page is now an input for the ad. The content team must update prices, promotions, product details, and stock before the ad runs. The ads team must record the toggle status for the account and for each campaign.

Our experience on October 2, 2026: the AI text customization setting in Ads Manager turned on again when we opened a saved campaign draft. Since then, we check the toggle after each draft edit and before we publish.

How do you turn off creative enhancements?

Turn off creative enhancements in the account settings, then check each campaign, because the campaign setting has priority over the account default.

  1. Open Ads Manager at ads.openai.com with an account that has admin access.
  2. Select Manage settings, then find the Creative enhancement card.
  3. Turn off the toggle at the account level.
  4. Open each active campaign and each draft. Make sure that the campaign setting is also off.
  5. Save a screenshot and the date of the change as an audit record.

According to Search Engine Roundtable on October 20, 2026 and PPC Land, 1 toggle controls all 4 types of change. You cannot turn off translation only and keep headline changes on.

When should you test creative enhancements?

Test this feature only if your landing page is accurate and your conversions are recorded.

For a simple test, make 2 campaigns with the same budget, targeting, and ads. Turn on creative enhancements in 1 campaign only. Compare the cost per conversion after 14 days, not CTR only.

Note: 2 campaigns with the same targeting compete in the same auction. Use the result as a signal, not as proof. For tracking setup, read our guide on ChatGPT Ads conversion tracking with the Conversions API.

Does Meta do the same?

Yes, Meta also expands default AI features and moves the risk to the advertiser.

  • Meta turned on product browsing for running Facebook and Instagram ads from October 28, 2026, unless the advertiser opted out, according to PPC Land, which quotes the Meta notice.
  • The new Meta Commercial Terms have an AI Features section. The advertiser carries all risks of AI features and of the content that they make, according to the Meta Commercial Terms preview.
  • The first effective date of these terms was October 30, 2026. On October 23, 2026, Meta moved the effective date to November 20, 2026, according to PPC Land, which quotes Reuters.
