Simple Landing Page Design That Still Sells

Simple design works because it removes distraction, not because it removes content. Read the spacing, type, colour rules, and the limits to keep.

Simple Landing Page Design That Still Sells

Simple design works because it removes distraction, not because it removes content. A page that deletes proof and price for a clean look loses readers at the decision block.

Four rules you can apply today

RulePractical valueReason
Space between blocks48 to 96 pixelsThe eye needs a pause to read a block as one unit.
Body text size16 to 18 pixelsSmall text forces the reader to zoom.
Font families1 to 2Each extra font slows the page.
Accent colour1 colourThe accent marks the action, it does not decorate.

Hierarchy: what gets read first

HeadlineThe largest size. One idea only.Explaining sentenceMedium size. States how it works, briefly.ProofA number or a photo with a short caption.ButtonAccent colour. One main action.

Hierarchy is built from size and space, not from the number of colours.

What you may remove and what you may not

Deleting form labels breaks screen reader use. Simplicity must not cost accessibility.

Contrast and readability

WCAG 2.2 asks for a text contrast of at least 4.5 to 1 for normal text. Light grey on white often fails that threshold, even when it looks tidy on a designer screen.

Questions and answers

Does a long page contradict simple design? No. Simple means each block carries one idea. A tidy long page reads more easily than a short dense one.

Should every animation go? Keep animation that explains a state change. Remove animation that only delays the content.

How many images are sensible? Use images that explain the product, the process, or the result. Stock photos unrelated to the offer only add weight.
