Select a provider that defines its work on feeds, policies, tracking, and optimization instead of promising immediate approval.

Google Shopping services combine technical and marketing work. The provider connects a store catalog to Google Merchant Center, improves product data, and manages paid placements or free listings. This work differs from standard search advertising because Google evaluates each product record.

What should a Google Shopping service include?

A good scope starts with a store and catalog audit. The provider checks whether prices, availability, landing pages, images, shipping details, and business information are consistent. It then creates or connects the feed, resolves Merchant Center diagnostics, installs measurement, and configures campaigns.

Google states in the Merchant Center product data specification that accurate and correctly formatted data is necessary for ads and free listings. Incorrect or incomplete data can cause disapprovals, limited eligibility, or display problems.

Which product-feed checks must happen before launch?

For free listings, Google identifies id, title or structured_title, link, image_link, and price as required attributes for all products. Other requirements depend on the category, country, item condition, and marketing method. See Google's free-listing requirements.

  • Use a title that identifies the product and a verified differentiator.
  • Keep the feed price and availability consistent with the landing pageLanding pageThe page an ad points to. It carries 1 offer and 1 action, with no menu pulling the visitor elsewhere. What is a landing page?.
  • Use a clear primary image without prohibited promotional overlays.
  • Supply GTIN, brand, MPN, condition, color, size, and variant data when applicable.
  • Match shipping cost and delivery time with checkout and Merchant Center settings.
  • Use a mobile-ready HTTPS product page with a working purchase action.

Google's 14 April 2026 specification update added handling_cutoff_time, minimum_order_value, and video_link. The same source states that warnings for images smaller than 500 × 500 pixels started on 14 April 2026. Google will enforce that minimum on 31 January 2027. Read the 2026 specification update.

How do you select a provider without buying a promise?

Ask who owns the account, data, tags, feed, and assets after the project. Your business should control the Merchant Center and Google Ads accounts. Give the provider role-based access instead of allowing it to keep core assets in an account that you cannot take over.

Do not use click volume as the only measure. Set a baseline for approved products, impressionsImpressionThe number of times your ad or page appeared on a screen. An impression is not a person and not a search.Open the glossary, clicks, cost, conversion value, transaction cost, and margin. A campaign can report revenue and still lose money when margin, returns, or shipping subsidies are not included.

Questions to ask before you sign

Can Google Shopping go live immediately?

No approval is guaranteed. Products must comply with Google's data, policy, website, and review requirements. Participation in free listings also does not guarantee display.

Does the service include feed creation?

Require a written answer. Some providers manage campaigns only. Feed work, e-commerce integrations, and diagnostic fixes can be separate items.

Must the campaign advertise every product?

No. Start with products that have stable stock, complete data, a ready landing page, and measurable margin. Fix weak products before you increase the budget.

When should performance be reviewed?

Set the review period from data volume and the purchase cycle. Do not decide from a few clicks. Do not let feed or tracking errors wait for a learning period.

What should you do next?

Audit the feed and account ownership first. After diagnostics are clear and a test transaction records correctly, launch a limited product group. Compare results with margin, and expand only when the data supports that decision.
